March 9, 1940 - May 23, 2020
After 80 years of love and blessing, Len Kamp passed away at Abbotsford Regional Hospital on Saturday, May 23. He is cherished by Eldean, his beloved wife and partner of 58 years, his three children, Kenton (Laura), Karla (Don), and Kristin (Geoff), 9 grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Len was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, on March 9, 1940 to Leonard and Mary Kamp, joining older siblings May and Neil. His days were filled with baseball, hockey, catching gophers with his dog, farm chores and learning in a one-room school. He left home to attend Regina Central Collegiate and earned his Engineering degrees from the University of Saskatchewan. Eldean caught his eye and heart during a visit to Bozeman, Montana, and they were married in 1962. Len's career was devoted to Environment Canada where he served in Ottawa, Toronto and Guelph. After 30 years of public service, Len retired to Abbotsford, BC, where he and Eldean enjoyed 20 years of travelling and companionship.
As an engineer, Len had an eye for detail and loved tools and the latest tech gadgets. He bonded with so many people over his love for sports, whether it was playing as a goalie, hitting the links or being an avid sports spectator. Len loved his church family dearly and, in partnership with Eldean, he served in many ways.
Len will be treasured for his patience, grace, good humour and his exceptional ability to make anyone feel valued and at ease. Our hearts are heavy, but we are comforted to know Len rests in the love of his Saviour. Please join us for a virtual celebration of life, Saturday, May 30, 1 pm at www.trinitycrc.ca.
Donations in Len's name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Calvin Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids, MI.
