December 29, 1934 - May 10, 2020
Born to immigrant parents, Abram and Lena Dyck, Lena was the only surviving sister of 9 brothers. Her early childhood was spent in Morden, Manitoba (birthplace) and Winnipegosis where her family farmed. In July 1946 the family moved to Mt. Lehman, BC where they lived on Harris Road. Lena attended Mt. Lehman Elementary, M.E.I. and later MBBI (now Colombia Bible Institute). There she met Arnold and them married on May 4, 1957, and just recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary before her passing.
Family meant a lot to Lena. She was the centre of the home, creating wonderful meals and using her great talent for baking. During her life she cooked in college kitchens, baked for ABC Restaurant, Muffin Break and other bakeries.
Lena's strong faith in Jesus translated into her love of singing, playing guitar and writing her own songs. She sang in choirs, women's meetings, at weddings and ALWAYS around the house. Her love for God spread to everyone she met with unconditional acceptance, which carried on even to the end of her life at the Menno Home, where she loved people until she was no longer able.
Lena will be lovingly remembered.... by her husband Arnold, son Ron (Elma) Falk, daughter Deb (Al) Thielmann, her 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, her brother William (Lorraine) Dyck, surviving sisters-in-law, friends and extended relatives... as a cheerful, spunky, fun loving woman who loved freely. We know she is now free of her earthly encumbrances and is in the presence of her Lord.
In her last years Lena was cared for lovingly by the staff at the Menno Home in Abbotsford, BC. Thank you to all the staff for how you have cared for Lena.
