June 29, 1967 - April 23, 2024

Ken McAllister was born to Ken and Linda McAllister on June 29, 1967, in Fort St. John, BC. Along with his 7 younger brothers, Ken grew up in Aldergrove, BC. After living in Abbotsford and then Vancouver, Ken made his home in South Surrey since 2003.

In 1999 Ken began work at Regent College in the position of Webmaster, where he would remain for the next 25 years. He was highly regarded for his creative talents, and appreciated for his kind spirit and quick wit. It was there that he met Jennifer Proctor in early 2001. Ken and Jen married later that year and began their 23 years together. They lovingly cared for several foster children before beginning their own family, eventually welcoming five children.

After being diagnosed with arthritis at age 10, normal boyhood play became more difficult. With a resilience that would become familiar, Ken began to develop other interests. He sang and played the saxophone, drums, and Irish whistle. He enjoyed reading fiction (especially Tolkien) and learning about history and world events. He never missed an airshow. Ken was a gifted photographer who took great care in his craft. He won awards and was published in books and magazines. He knew how to find the perfect light, and could capture the beauty in the ordinary. He could make the best cup of coffee. Ken loved his family and the gatherings at the farm. He was steadfast, loyal, and sought to do what was right. His faith in Jesus inspired him to humbly accept his physical limitations, and to look kindly and without judgment on others with difficulties.

He is deeply missed by his wife Jen; children Sabrina (Travis), Sean, Savannah, Claire and Cora; parents Ken and Linda McAllister; brothers and sisters-in-law Mike (Shelley), Dan (Natasha), Jeremy (Catherine), Joel (Lara), Ryan (Amanda), Jason (Amanda), and Graeme (Aimee); In-laws John and Coralee Proctor; brothers-in-law; Josh (Melanie) and Chris (Amanda), and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, close friends and colleagues.

Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on June 27th at Peace Portal Alliance Church, 15128 27B Ave, Surrey, BC.
