John Gordon Smith peacefully passed away on November 6, 2003 at Bevan Lodge, Abbotsford.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Daphne and dear sister Kathleen (Norm) Everett, dear sister-in-law Mollie (Moe) Caza and brother-in-law Bill (Lynne) Kirkpatrick. He will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter Lynne.
Gordon had a vey happy childhood living in Powell River. He studied at UBC in Vancouver, where he later became a professor of Chemistry. After teaching, Gordon developed and established his own lab testing business and became successful in his business life. Gordon's last years were difficult, but he faced each day with determination, dignity and a smile.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society in memory of Gordon.
