John Gwynne McGowan, born January 22, 1920 in Oakville, Ontario passed away suddenly at his home on September 14, 2003.
He is survived, and will be sadly missed, by his loving wife of 58 years, Lois Kathleen, his son Robert (Bob), wife Joan, grandsons Rob (Julie) McGowan and Andrew McGowan of Abbotsford, and many other family members.
He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth (Bessie) Seale and his brother Samuel McGowan.
John was the owner and operator of John McGowan Motors of Abbotsford for many years, a founding member of the Abbotsford Air Show, a life member of the Abbotsford Lions Club, a life member of the Abbotsford Flying Club, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundaiton.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sat. Sept. 20, 2003 from the Chapel of Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home at 34537 Marshall Road (at Sumas Way)with refreshments to follow at the Abbotsford Flying Club at the Abbotsford Airport.
