April 5, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of John Bruce Millin announce his passing on April 5, 2021 at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, children Christopher, Matthew, and Lucas and grandchildren Zoey, Zachary, Ember and Bentley.
John was born in Regina, Saskatchewan to Catharine and Gordon Millin in 1947. He was the middle child of three boys (Stuart, John and Edward). John spent his teenage summers working in the family millwork factories in Regina and Saskatoon. After graduating from the University of Alberta in 1968, he joined Sauder, working his way up to manager of their wood door factory and building his reputation in the industry.
In 1984, he then struck out on his own, having been an owner/operator in the building materials industry until he retired on March 31st, 2021, five days before he passed away.
John's adventures in work and life took him and his family to Edmonton, Vancouver, Langley, Victoria and finally Abbotsford, where he spent his final thirty years.
John will be remembered for his unmeasurable positivity, his never-give-up attitude, his infectious chuckle and his love of fishing and model trains.
We take great comfort in knowing that after so many epic battles with cancer over the years, John is at peace, fly fishing on some ethereal rushing creek, with his favourite dogs by his side. He will be deeply missed.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the palliative care ward at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre who cared for John with such dignity, love and respect during his brief stay there.
