Joan Burket

May 14, 1946 - September 7, 2019
Our precious mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord on September 7th, 2019. Joan was born in Grouard, Alberta to Esther and Charles Walker. She was the loving wife of Jack Burket for 62 years and the beloved mother of Nancy (Jim) Humphries and Mark (Cathy) Burket. She was the cherished Grandma to Kim (Darren) Buckley, Ben, Chad, Cody, Kyle (Samantha) Humphries, Joshua (April), Zachary and Trevor Burket. She had two great grandchildren Liam and Everly. Joan was predeceased by her husband Jack and daughter, Marcy Welton.
She was dedicated to her family throughout her life, and supported their various activities with her gift of time. She was a shining example of a servant heart and loved to entertain friends and family over one of her many delicious meals or a cup of tea on her patio. She would always be the first to support someone in need. Her greatest legacy to her family was her deep and unwavering love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She prayed always for her family and friends. Many of her summers included teaching summer Bible clubs to neighborhood children. Mom will always have a huge place in our hearts and will be missed by all who were privileged to have known her.
We would like to invite all friends and family to the following events that have been planned to celebrate her life: Wednesday, September 18th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, there will be a viewing and reception at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 29th from 1:00 - 3:00 pm, at the home of her daughter Nancy, 35272 Mckee Place, Abbotsford. Online condolences to the family may be made at:
