Jack Hougen, husband, father, papa, great-papa and uncle passed away at 93 years of age on Sunday, April 24, 2022.
Jack was predeceased by his father, Alexander, his mother Dorothy, and his daughter Deborah (Jack). Jack's wife of 69 years predeceased him on January 2, 2022.
Jack is also lovingly remembered by his brother Alan (Patti), children Beverly Harris (Dan) and Barbara Daenckaert (Daryl, predeceased); his grandchildren, Marilyn, Jason (Amanda), Jennifer (Ray), Athena, Charlie (Theresa), Glenna (Peter) and Cary (Alicia).
Jack was very proud of and loved his 16 great grandchildren. Jack will always be remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Jack was born in Matsqui, B.C. and lived in the Abbotsford (Matsqui and Sumas) area all his life. Jack attended Philip Sheffield High School and went on to become a successful dairy farmer in Sumas Prairie for 40 years.
Jack served his community on Sumas and Abbotsford councils from 1968 to 1976. Jack retired from farming to open a family store, Hougen Boutique. The store was sold in 1980 and Jack returned to council for another 4 years.
Jack was a past president of the Hole In The Wall where he spent many years enjoying camaraderie with his numerous friends. Jack enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Pat. Jack loved to play card games and enjoyed golfing and fishing.
A celebration of life will be held for Jack and Pat at 2 pm on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 33911 Hazelwood Ave., Abbotsford.
