August 5, 1933 - February 2, 2024
Hilda Baerg nee Teichroeb, was born August 5, 1933 as the third child and only daughter to Jacob and Katharina Teichroeb on a farm near Foxwarren, Manitoba where she spent 9 years. In November of 1942, the family moved to Abbotsford BC to take up residence on a dairy farm on Inter Provincial Hwy.
She received the Lord as her personal Saviour during an Evangelistic service conducted in the Yarrow Mennonite Church, which the family began attending regularly. She began as a church pianist at Yarrow Mennonite Church at the age of 18 in 1951 and continued as the congregational accompanist until November 2003.
On November 23, 1952 Hilda married John Baerg and they began life together in an eight room house on the grounds of Eddie's Nursery in Sardis where John was employed. In September 1960 they moved back to the family farm.
In January 2006 they bought a condominium in Garden Park Tower which was a convenient location for shopping and walking around the neighbourhood.
The family appreciates the care that mom and dad have received in Menno Home since 2022 where mom died peacefully on February 2, 2024.
Hilda is survived by her husband John, children Christine Baerg (Larry Fast), Albert Baerg (Marilyn); grandchildren, Andy Blackmore (Tracy), Chad Blackmore (Kelly), Janelle Baerg, Candice Babbitt,(Jonathan), Justin Baerg (Pia), great-grandchildren; Marcus, Henry and Ben Blackmore, Alexandria, Mikayla, and Wesley Babbitt, Kaitlyn and Finley Baerg.
