Helen Elsie Dearden (nee Crowther)
November 28, 1927 - September 30, 2017
Helen passed away peacefully on the afternoon of September 30 with loving family by her side.
She is survived by her grandchildren Krystina (Scott), Jennifer (Daryl), Jeremy (Crystal), and Georgia (Chris).
She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren: Jayden, Jordy, Peyton, Zoe, Brooklyn, Jett, and June.
She was pre-deceased by husband Robert Dearden, son and daughter-in-law Rob and Patricia Dearden, and grandson James Dearden.
Helen was a deeply emotional person who could tear up at a happy story or a simple hug. Her love for her family was inspiring.
Born in the United States, Helen moved to Canada to be with her husband and made Canada her home. She lived in Taiwan and then Hong Kong for a number of years where she met many wonderful friends and learned to love the culture there.
After retirement, she returned to Abbotsford, BC, where she lived for the remainder of her life.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at The Valhaven Home in Abbotsford for the loving, gentle care they have provided Helen over the past 3 years.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Henderson's Funeral Home at 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC, followed by a graveside service at MacLure Road Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
