January 1, 1927 - February 8, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Plantz at the age of 94 on February 8th, 2021. Harold suffered a stroke in December and later contracted COVID while at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. He is predeceased by his parents Gottfried (Fritz) and Martha Plantz nee Flath, by his infant daughter Edna Plantz and siblings Clara Epp, Herbert Plantz, Edna Gruber and Walter Plantz.
Left to mourn, he is survived by his wife of 70 years Elvira (Vera) Plantz nee Ferraro, older sister Irene Oelsner, sisters-in-law Bernice Plantz and Ophelia Ferraro, nieces and nephews Harold Gruber, Shirley Melen, Mcleod Daniels, Lynne Walker, Larry Plantz, Carmie Kozak, Kathy Palidwor, Gary Ferraro, Roger Ferraro, Darleen Baker, Leo Ferraro, Debbie Dickey, Roy Ferraro, Stan Ferraro, Anne Schroeder, Norma Latin, Linda Willmott, Carol Foster, Gordon Ferraro and Lorraine Gagnon.
Harold was born in Rosthern, Saskatchewan but his fondest memories were about growing up on the family farm near Loon Lake, Saskatchewan. Coming of age, he moved first to Ontario working on the ships in the Great Lakes and then later moved to BC in 1948 driving truck for various companies including Sumas Transport where he transported milk cans from the Fraser Valley to Vancouver.
He also worked for Buckerfields. He retired in 1988 after 20 years with the BC Department of Highways as a machine operator, including graders and snowploughs.
Retiring allowed him more time to focus on his beautiful vegetable, rose and begonia garden where he had patiently cared and cultivated begonias that were now over 50 years old.

A Chapel Service will be held at Henderson Funeral Home February 27th with Graveside Service to follow at Hazelwood Cemetery.
Unfortunately, due to government Covid regulations both services must be kept to under 10 people.
