Harmen Otto

(May 13, 1932 - January 8, 2005)

It is with deep sorrow and aching hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, opa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend at age 72.

Survived by his loving family: wife of 44 years, Leona; sons Paul, Micheal (Kathleen), Jeff, Brad (Shelley) and Stuart; grandchildren Rebecca, Jesse, Kyle and Amy; brother Briener (Kitty); sister Joke (Ryk) as well as numerous nieces and nephews and predeceased by sister Neli (Sander).

Otto came to Canada from Holland in 1957. After working as dairy farm management, Otto went to school at age 42 to become a lineman. He then began working at Transalta where he stayed until 1992. After retirement Otto enjoyed life to the fullest with his cherished wife by his side. He took great joy in painting, artwork, nature, family and friends and will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to have had him in their lives.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the residents of Avonlea. A memorial service will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 27555 - 31 Ave., Aldergrove at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 14, followed by a reception at Avonlea, 33088 Mill Lake Rd., Abbotsford.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
