STUBBERT, Gertrude Loretta (nee:Weick)
May 10, 1935 – July 10, 2010
God looked around his garden and found and empty place. And then he looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best
He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never get well on earth again
He saw the road was getting rough, and hills were hard to climb. So he closed your weary eyelids, and whispered
“peace be thine”
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished mother Gert, survived by her children Jennifer (Jordan), Dawn (Tom), and Mark. Beloved Grandma of Meghan, Erik and Tyonna. Gert was predeceased by her husband Peter, and sisters Dorothy and Mary. Gert grew up in Prince Rupert and lived there for many years to raise her family. She worked at the Prince Rupert Bank of Montreal for 38 years, then retired and moved to Francois Lake (Burns Lake) in 1986. In 2002, she moved to the Lower Mainland in Mission to be closer to her family.
Gert sparkled at many family gatherings and will be fondly remembered for her laughter, loving kindness and generous spirit. She had a wonderful love of family, and loved to cook and bake, which she shared with many. Always positive, she had a wonderful zest for life, and a heart and mind much younger than her years. She was a precious gift to all who knew her and will be greatly missed by many.
A special thanks to all the 2nd floor nurses at the Mission Memorial Hospital, and her friends in Francois Lake and Mission. Your friendship and kindness will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life to be held at 1:00 pm on Monday July 26, 2010 at 32286 7th Ave, Mission, BC., “Luther Place” clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, donations kindly accepted in her memory to the Fraser Valley Health Care Mission Hospital Foundation, 7324 Hurd St. Mission BC, V2V 3H5.
