George Donald Jackson
April 19, 1938 - January 7, 2017
George passed away peacefully in his sleep into the presence of the Lord, ending some heartbreaking years living with dementia. He is predeceased by his loving wife Joan of nearly fifty years; his parents Thomas and Hazel Jackson; his sister, Isabelle Armstrong; and nephew Keith Armstrong. George is survived by his sisters Cathy and Anne; his step-children Debby (Rod) and Terry (Tori); grandchildren Dustin, Chelsea (Brad), Ben, Molly (Kyle) and Ryan; great-grandchildren Carson, Landon and Lilly; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends. George was born and raised in Vancouver and worked many years as a BC Transit bus driver there. He put great care and effort into everything he was involved with. He loved watching and playing sports and was an enthusiastic golfer and bowler. George and Joan enjoyed going to their trailer in the states and invited family and friends often to join them. They went on many short trips in BC ensuring their cats were not alone too long, but indulged in trips to Hawaii, Mexico and an Alaskan cruise too. George’s kind nature, quiet strength and generous spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His memorial will be held on January 20th at Harvard Gardens (Rowing Room) 15100 33 Ave Surrey V3Z 0N7 at 11am. And a short graveside service will follow at Ocean View, 4000 Imperial St. Burnaby V5J 1A4 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice
