Gavin Owen GRIFFITHS

January 20, 2007

Gavin Owen passed away peacefully at MSA General Hospital on January 20, 2007 in his 86th year. Born October 14, 1921 in Rhyl, Wales, Gavin moved to Bradner with his parents and two brothers in 1926 where he resided the remainder of his life. He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his loving wife, of almost 61 years, Catherine (McRae); son Gavin Jr. (Darlene); three grandchildren, Ryan (Jenny), Jody (Cory) Wellicome, and Troy; five great grandchildren Taelor, Morgyn, Caden, Wyatt and Carys; also predeceased by his brothers Charlie and Geoff.

Gavin was one of the original 89 employees of BC Ferries Corporation when it started in June, 1960. He was very involved in the construction of the current Bradner Community Hall and remained an active member until his passing. Gavin's passion was fishing and spending time at Loon Lake with his family and good friends.

No service as per request of the deceased. In lieu of flowers a donation in Gavin's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (of which Gavin was an avid supporter) would be appreciated. Our heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff of the Emergency ICU at MSA General Hospital.
