January 2, 1921 - October 21, 2021
With a heavy heart, we say goodbye to our Mom, Sister, Grandma, Nonna, Aunt, Cousin and Friend. She quietly passed away at the age of 100 with her daughter Catherine, daughter-in-law Janice and her grandson Rob there to see her off.
"Evie" was born in Vancouver, then moving to Ocean Falls to live on a float camp, as her Father was a hand logger. It is somewhat of a miracle that she did not drown! Once it was time to start school, the family moved into town.
It was here, during the Second WW that she met the love of her life, Armin. Together they lived in Ocean Falls, then Beaver Cove in a logging camp, before relocating to Vancouver. Not long after, they moved to North Vancouver where they raised their two children, Randy and Catherine. Once retired they moved to acreage and built their home in Abbotsford.
Together they travelled the world and told many tales of their adventures. Evie travelled to her winter home in Yuma Arizona until she was 95. That same year she hung up the car keys.
She liked nothing more than spending time fishing. Creeks, rivers, lakes, the ocean. It did not matter. The above picture was taken on a fishing trip to Bamfield, where we celebrated her birthday by catching 400 pounds of salmon!
She had an incredible memory and rarely need a map to find her way anywhere.
Another of her talents that she was famous for was her apple pies!
The family greatly appreciates the incredible care and compassion our Mom received from the staff on Baker 2 of the Abbotsford Regional Hospital in her last few days.
Mom has lived at Chartwell Carrington House in Mission for the past fourteen months where she was always treated with warmth, respect and kindness. The family wishes to thank you all.
Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, October 29, 2021 at St. Matthew's R.C. Parish 16079 88th Ave, Surrey, BC. at 10:30 am. Reception to follow at Jubilee Hall. Interment will follow at Ocean View Cemetery.
