ELLEN STUART

October 23, 2003

Ellen Anne Stuart was born in Beaupre, Q.C., the oldest of the four childeren of Bob and Margaret Stuart.

At the age of 13 she moved with her family to Bangladesh. She attended a British Mission school in the hills of southern India, and finished her high school at a private school in Toronto. She studied rehabilitation medicine at the University of Toronto and graduated in 1969.

For two years, she practiced physiotherapy in Port Arthur, and then got a job with the Arthritis Society in Vancouver, splitting her time between Mission and Maple Ridge hospitals. In 1974, she started working full time at Mission Memorial Hospital. Living at the farm home of Bay and Fred Leroux in Deroche gave her a taste for country living, and she bought five acres in Dewdney where she raised sheep.

Her recent passing followed a courageous five-year battle with bone cancer.

She will be sadly missed by her parnets Bob and Margaret Stuart of Mission: three brothers Don of Gibsons, Peter of Mission and Rob of Toronto; by Don's family; his wife Pat, their daughter Catherine, her husband Jeff Jackson and son Jeremy of Williams Lake and the twins, Kristina of Vancouver and Bruce of Gibsons: and by Ellen's many friends.

A Memorial Service took place on Monday, October 27, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at St Paul's Presbyterian Church, Mission, B.C. with Reverend Robin Ross officiating. If desired memorial donations in Ellen's name can be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society, 33079B -1st Ave., Mission, B.C. V2V 1G2.
