January 21, 1921 – June 10, 2008
Betty passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side on the morning of June 10, 2008 at the Christine Morrison Hospice, Mission, BC.
Betty will be sadly missed by her daughters Luella and Kathy, son-in-law Steve Akeroyd, grandsons David and Mark Akeroyd, grandkitties Daisy and Onslow, grandpuppy Lacy, sisters-in-law Minnie Eyre of Abbotsford, Ruth Forrister of Saskatoon, and Esther Forrister of Ymir, BC.and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her many friend.
Betty was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Al, her parents, sisters Tibbie and Peggy, brother Tommy and son-in-law Chris Blake.
Betty was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She took great pleasure in her work with the ladies of the OES, making cancer dressings, trimming stamps, working at bazaars and teas and various other activities. She treasured the many friendships she made through OES. Betty was a long time resident of Alameda Court where she really enjoyed all the social activities. Betty will be remembered for her ready smile, gentle strength, welcoming ways and genuine interest in others. Betty loved having fun whether playing cards or just visiting with others but she especially loved perfecting the art of being a Grandma.
The family would like to thank the team at the Christine Morrison Hospice for their amazing facility where they have created a supportive, caring and home-like environment in which the entire family can treasure their last days together.
The family invites you to join them at a Memorial Tea in Celebration of Betty’s Life, to be held Saturday, June 21, 2008 from 2-4 pm at the Masonic Hall in Abbotsford, at the corner of Gladys and Pine. Tea and refreshments will be provided by the members of Electra Chapter #20 OES to whom the family extends heartfelt appreciation.
