Elfriede Luise Grohmueller

Elfriede passed away peacefully at the age of 86 into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, after a sudden decline in her health.

She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 60 years, Hans; daughters Dorothea Gutmann of Germany and Ulrike (Rudolf) Janzen of Abbotsford; son Reinhard (Leona) Grohmueller, also of Abbotsford, grandchildren: Martin (Danae), David (Danielle), Christopher (Natalie), Marie-Louise (Andrew) Wiebe, Meggie (Jon-Robert) Schmidt, Karl-Peter (Kailey) and Elly and 9 great-grandchildren.

Elfriede was born in Mannheim-Seckenheim, Germany into a farming family. Growing up in the war years, her schooling was interrupted, but she went on to study organ and church music in Heidelberg. After marriage to Hans in 1958 they started a family and she delighted in being a homemaker.

Elfriede’s life was filled with faith, family and music. She loved to knit and sew, and enjoyed many activities with her family like riding, cross country skiing, hiking in the Alps, and spending summers sailing in Italy. Elfriede also blessed many people with her wonderful gift of hospitality.

After 2 of her children immigrated to Canada, she and Hans followed at age 75 in 2007.EThey were blessed to make many friends and find a welcoming church family.

She left this earth with a yearning to be with her Lord, whom she wholly trusted.

A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 6-7 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd., Abbotsford.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at 11 am at the Clearbrook MB Church, 2719 Clearbrook Rd., Abbotsford.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Clearbrook MB Church South Asian Ministry.
