August 6, 1948 ~ August 8, 2015
With profound sadness, the family announces that our dear Barbara passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2015 after a brief illness. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, John and Elizabeth; her brother Matthew; her sister Clara; her brother Fred and her brother Joe. She will be sadly missed by her siblings Mary (Mike Stevens); Steve; Eva; Annie (Emery Friesen); Beth (Morris Farquhar); and Sylvia (Clive Mason); as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Barbara grew on a farm in Otto, Manitoba, the youngest of a large family that doted on her. Born with a mental handicap, she lived a small yet happy life. Barbara was always busy and industrious as she attend various community programs for the disabled, and she took pride in her work. She lived with family in several places across Manitoba and Saskatchewan before settling in Mission, BC with her sister Eva. Barbara was blessed with a sunny disposition and an affectionate nature, which made her a great favourite with family and friends alike. Funny, joyful, sweet, and willful - she was always beguiling. Barbara loved her heavenly father, Jehovah, and turned to him in prayer often. His promise of a resurrection comforted her especially when she was personally touched by loss and grief. It is this happy hope that continues to sustain us now, and we can't wait to see her again in paradise.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 32757 7th Avenue, Mission, BC.
