HARDER, Dr. Harold


Harold was born to John and Lydia Harder and grew up in Abbotsford; attended MEI and Columbia Bible College. He earned a Bachelor and Masters at UBC. Harold met his wife while teaching at Tabor College in Kansas. He married Gail Weigold in 1968 with a desire to serve Christ together. They moved to Langley, BC to teach at Trinity Western University in 1968. In 1970 they welcomed their son Mark to the family and their daughter Jennifer in 1975. In 1976 they moved to Iowa to complete a PH.D and moved back to Langley, to continue teaching at TWU for 2 years. They went to Bangladesh for 3 years to serve with MCC, where he was the director of operations. Harold continued teaching at TWU where he co-developed the International Studies program in the School of Business at TWU. In 2007, he retired professor emeritus. He served on the Missions Commission at Northview Community Church and MCC Board. Harold leaves behind his best friend and wife Gail, his children Mark Harder (wife Alisha) and Jennifer Harris (husband Ryan), grandchildren Ethan, Monique and Cailie Harder, Joshua and Jacob Harris, and 5 sisters, Betty Esau, Martha Peters, Ruth Friesen, Lydia Boldt and Esther Busink.

A memorial service will take place at Northview Community Church on November 12th at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers please donate to TWU Harold Harder School of Business Award #1922
