DORIS AIRHART (nee Comfort)

Dec. 21, 1914 - Jan. 22, 2010.

Doris Airhart passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, at Brentwood Care Centre in Calgary, Alberta. Doris was born in Red Deer, Alberta, the youngest of John H. and Lena Comfort's seven children, and she grew up on her parents' thriving dairy farm in the Clearview area of Red Deer. Doris was a talented pianist and piano teacher and she maintained a lifelong love of music and the piano. Mrs. Airhart was married to Rev. Arnold E. Airhart for 65 years until he passed away in April 2006. Rev. and Mrs. Airhart served the Lord by pastoring Nazarene churches in Prince Albert, SK; Saskatoon, SK; and Toronto. They also served in leadership at Canadian Nazarene College, both in Red Deer and in Winnipeg, and at Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Upon retirement, the Airharts moved to Abbotsford where they lived for 23 years. For the past 3 ½ years, Doris lived in Calgary near her daughter. Doris Airhart was predeceased by her husband, Arnold, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her three children, Philip, Russell, and Carolyn (Alho), their spouses, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to join the family in a memorial service of celebration on Thursday, February 25, at 2:00 p.m., at the Abbotsford Church of the Nazarene, 2390 McMillan Road. A reception will immediately follow the service. Interment will be in Hazelwood Cemetery earlier in the day. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Mission Possible of Vancouver or to World Relief Canada (wrcanada.org).
