February 13, 2004

It is with sorrow filled hearts that we share the news of Deborah Corinne Pollard leaving her earthly life on February 13th, 2004.

Deb was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan on November 17, 1956. She grew up in humble beginnings as a prairie railway agent's daughter, hanging around her Dad's hockey rink in the winter and the pool room when she could get away with it. Her career in public service began in Saskatoon with Correctional Services, Canada and she was currently serving as Coordinator of Correctional Programs Pacific Institution in Abbotsford, B.C. Deb served as Victims Liason Coordinator with Victoria Parole, volunteered for the Sexual Assault Response Team, was a crisis negotiator, and recently stood as a member of the Correctional Service of Canada Honour Guard, standing for fallen members as she was able. She had the attitude, "If you want to wear the uniform, show up for the parade."

Though she was dedicated to her work, her happiest times were spent camping in the wilderness, fishing in back water lakes and streams, sitting around a campfire and watching the stars. Last summer she and Bill initiated, "Miss Van Go" and had planned a retirement filled with, "let's see where the road takes us."

She said what she meant and meant what she said, believed in the good in all people, and defended the less fortunate. She could catch you off guard with her quick wit, and make you laugh 'till your sides shook. Those who were blessed to come into her shining light were cared for beyond measure. You left her presence feeling nourished and spiritually renewed.

She has been reunited with her father, Napoleon Robert Ewasiuk, and her mother Jean Ewasiuk whom she missed dealy.

Those left to carry on, inspired by her boundless generosity, love of life and "quit" complaining and get on with it" approach to life, are husband William Kersy and his family, beloved Sushi, uncle Mike Ewasiuk, cherished nephew and niece, Paul and Amy, brother-in-law Jim Kirkpatrick, sister mama Gail, cousins, friends and forever changed co-workers.

Flowers gratefully declined. Please donate to the charity of your choice. Family and close friends will celebrate her life privately.
