David Redekop

David Redekop

Jul 2, 1929 – Nov 14, 2017
David Redekop was called to his heavenly home on November 14, 2017.

He was born on July 2, 1929 to William and Mary (Dyck) Redekop in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He grew up in Greendale, near Chilliwack, the oldest of 7 children. As a teenager he worked at Eddi’s Nursery.

The family moved to Aldergrove when he was 17. With his wife, Lenora (Dahl), he started what was to become Aldergrove Nursery on Fraser Highway near LeFeuvre Road. The nursery became very successful, growing plants and roses for the wholesale market in western Canada. His children Marilyn and Lorne grew up learning to help.

In his early 50’s David was able to ease-off the primary responsibility for the nursery, as Lorne and his wife Shirley grew into the business. David continued to help daily, but was able to take time for travel and Christian ministry outreaches. David was a man of faith who took time to talk to and encourage people wherever he went. He lived as Jesus taught. He enjoyed his family, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He touched many lives all over the world.

Left to miss him are his wife Lenora, daughter Marilyn Edwards, son Lorne (Shirley) Redekop; grandchildren Jeremiah (Christine) Redekop, Keith (Jessica) Edwards, Reid Edwards (Janice Nakonechny), Annalise (Dan) McLean, Melody Redekop Smale (Trevor); 8 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings and extended family.

A celebration to honour David’s life will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 11:00 am at Northview Community Church, 32040 Downes Road, Abbotsford.

In memory of David, a donation to Logos Canada would be appreciated.
