Bernice passed away peacefully on June 8th at age 97 after a brief illness. She is lovingly survived by her husband John of 63 years, sons Roy (Bonnie), Leonard (Chris), daughters Sharon (Arne) and Carol as well as several treasured grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bernice is predeceased by her parents, Roscoe and Jesse, sisters Mary and Ruth and brother Joe. Bernice was born in Great Falls, Montana. She lived several places in Montana and Washington state when her parents worked for the Salvation Army. She later lived on a farm in Nebraska during the depression, then moving to Denver, then Boston during WW2. Bernice graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cascade College in Portland, Oregon in 1949. She worked in Juneau, Alaska for Federal Housing and later taught 3rd and 4th grades in Nenana, Alaska where she met her future husband John whom was working construction at the time. They moved to British Columbia shortly after and proudly became Canadian citizens. The family operated forestry and agriculture businesses in Vanderhoof, Prince George, Dawson Creek and Fort Nelson, later retiring in Abbotsford in 1988. At her request, there will be no service, but there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. A special thanks to staff and volunteers from the Holmberg House Hospice for the tender care given to Bernice in her final days. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
