Bernhard (Ben) Nickel passed into the presence of his Lord with his family by his side on Thursday, July 21, 2011 in Abbotsford. He was born May 4, 1922 in Zerensdorf Berlin, Germany and grew up on a farm in Beechy, SK. In 1947 the family moved to Abbotsford, BC. Ben worked at Clayburn Industries from 1952 until his retirement at Flexlox Industries in 1987. At home he repaired radios, TVs and electronics for his many friends and neighbours. Ben was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Henry, Peter, Bernhard and Jacob, his sister Agnes and his grandson Tanner. He is survived by Anne, his wife of 60 years, his sons Ken (Wendie), Rick (Clo), his grandchildren Trent, Sierra, Julianne and Tyler and his brother John (Zelma) and sister-in-law Alvina. Special thanks to the Menno Home staff for the care they gave Ben this last year.
Graveside service will be held at 10 am at South Poplar Cemetery, Abbotsford. Memorial Service will be held on July 29th at 11:00 a.m. at South Abbotsford M.B. Church on 32424 Huntingdon Rd, Abbotsford. Online condolences may be given at www.woodlawnfh-abbotsford.com
