McDERMOT; Arthur

April 20, 1935 ~ August 8, 2014

Arthur (Arty) David McDermot, 79, entered into rest on August 8, 2014. He had overcome many health conditions in his life and it was a tragic and sudden accident that took him home. He was born in British Columbia April 20, 1935. He resided in British Colombia, Canada most of his life. He joins his parents in heaven and his wife Susan McDermot. He is survived by his daughter Lulu Briggs of Washington, and his two sons Tyler Eddy and David Eddy, Vicky Norman Eddy and their two children Paige and David of California. He was a woodworker for more than 50 years and blessed to work with his hands. He had a beloved woodshop where he spent most of his retirement tinkering and making beautiful creations. He was a very private person, but loved to share his vast knowledge of the Military and could quote history from both the United States and Canada. He loved to write letters and even got on the email band wagon a few years ago, but then decided he liked the personal touch of putting pen to paper so went back to his “old school” ways as he called it. He also loved to sing and play piano. He was a loving Father and Grandpa and a true friend and will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. A private ceremony and scattering of his ashes will be held on Orcas Island, Washington where he loved to visit, date to be determined. His dog Rocket who was rescued by Art will forever miss him. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in his name to any local animal shelter.
