After a long illness, Antonietta passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2007. She was born in Castiglione A'Casauria, Pescara, Italy on August 21, 1918. She was predeceased by her husband, Giustino in 1991 and all her siblings (4 brothers and 2 sisters). She is survived by her son Tom (Wendy); 3 grandsons, Justin, Steven (Jennifer Ashley) and Neal (Jennifer Eileen); 2 great grandchildren, Sophia and Benjamin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Antonietta spent her youth in Italy and was trained to be a seamstress. After receiving her teaching certificate she travelled all over Italy and taught young women the art of dressmaking. While visiting the villages in the Abruzzi Region in 1951, she met and married Giustino. That same year Giustino immigrated to Vancouver and the following year was joined by Antonietta and Tom. Her passion was her home and garden as well as the Italian Women's Club. She was the founding president of the Italian Women's Club, "Lega Femminile Circolo Abruzzese", which promoted and fostered Italian culture and traditions.
We would like to thank all the staff at "The Cottage", in particular Erica, Peggy, Cindy, Hernan, Nora and Kate, where Antonietta was in their care this past 4-1/2 years. Also a special thanks to Elsie, who became a dear friend to her.
Prayers will be offered at 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 8 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6350 Nanaimo St., Vancouver, BC. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 am on Friday, November 9. Private family entombment to follow at Ocean View Abbey where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. If you wish to honour her memory, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
