"Why Johnny Can Read"
Frances Anne Atkinson Langdon-Davies died peacefully at Yucalta Lodge in Campbell River on July 7, 2021.
Anne was raised in a mining engineer family (Steve and Sally, children Anne, Peter, Dick, Jean). She spent her childhood in Bolivia, northern Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan. She married Dick MacLean in 1954 and they pumped out five brats in seven years. Best Mom Ever! Completed her higher education once she was done with diapers.
Anne arrived in Abbotsford to begin teaching at North Poplar Elementary in 1971. Community-minded, she loved Abbotsford and made it her home for the next forty years. Married Walter Langdon-Davies and lived on Clarke Drive downtown until he passed in 2009. Master gardener and volunteer at Community Services and BC Schizophrenia Society. Remedial teacher at large for the MSA district: South Poplar, Margaret Stenersen, Godson and many others. Anne quit teaching and left for a driving tour of Canada when her husband retired. After that she continued to tutor students at her home. Anne is survived by son David and daughters Brenda and Beth, sister Jean and brother Dick.
A celebration of her life is planned for mid-October at Fraser Glen Golf Course Bar & Grill. Donations to BC Schizophrenia Society.
