A 62-year-old woman who was taking out her garbage became the victim of a home invasion Friday morning in Abbotsford.

The incident took place at about 7:30 a.m. at a home in the 3600 block of Robson Drive, located south of Bateman Road and north of Laburnum Avenue.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the woman had briefly left her home to take out some trash when she was confronted by two masked suspects.

They forced her back inside the home and restrained her while demanding cash. Two other suspects arrived on the scene, and much of the home was ransacked.

According to the victim, the suspects were all male and were armed, MacDonald said.

The culprits eventually left the residence, and the victim was able to free herself and call police. She was taken to hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

MacDonald said witnesses indicated that a brown Chrysler sedan was seen in the area and near the home in the past few weeks.

Investigators are now wanting to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious people, vehicles or activities in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225, text abbypd (222973) or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
