VIDEO: Here’s what Highway 1 looked like at 6:45 a.m.

Abbotsford police said emergency crews were struggling to reach stranded drivers

Highway 1 was closed around 7 a.m. this morning, here’s a video that was taken 15 minutes before the Ministry of Transportation decided to shut it down.

Westbound lanes were re-opened around 1 p.m. Wednesday. Check DriveBC for the latest.

The video was taken by Reid Reinholdt, a car-pooling passenger en route from Abbotsford to Chilliwack for work.

“You [couldn’t] see a foot in front of you at times,” Reinholdt said. “There [were] semis and cars everywhere in the ditch.”

Abbotsford police said emergency crews were struggling to reach stranded drivers earlier in the morning due to extreme white out conditions.

“The roads are treacherous. Please stay home,” said a police department social media post.
