Vancouver police nabbed a bad driver earlier this week after being sent a YouTube video of one heck of a parking job.
The video, uploaded on Monday, shows someone trying to steer a white Porsche Cayenne into a garage.
You can hear the screech of metal upon metal as the driver tries to ram the car into the small space, actually scraping off parts of the luxury car.
Officers were sent the video from ICBC, VPD Const. Brian Montague said, and happened to already be investigating a hit-and-run involving a white Porsche.
It happened a few days earlier at West 32 Avenue, between Oak and Granville. No one was in the car that was struck at the time, but the impact caused significant damage.
“We find the house, find the car, find the driver,” Montague said. “He’s 16 years old.”
Not only that, the kid doesn’t have a licence, he added, and the car belongs to his mother, who was to be out of town.
Had the boy remained at the scene, Montague said he would have just received a $276 ticket for driving without a licence.
But now, he’s looking at and stiff fines under the Motor Vehicle Act of hit and run and driving without due care and attention.
And because he doesn’t have a licence, Montague said, insurance won’t cover the cost of fixing the car that was struck, the Porsche or the garage.
