UPDATE: Driver charged after vehicle crashes into A & W restaurant in Abbotsford

Man faces four charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to provide a breath sample.

The driver of a vehicle that crashed into an A & W restaurant in Abbotsford on Sunday morning is facing four criminal charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Around 10 a.m., the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) received a report of an erratic driver traveling west bound in the 32700 block of South Fraser Way. While police were being dispatched, another caller said a vehicle had crashed into the A & W Restaurant located in the 32500 block of South Fraser Way.

APD Patrol officers, Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service, and BC Ambulance arrived at the scene and found a Jeep lodged into the side of the restaurant.

Police detained the 31-year-old male driver at the scene.

Witnesses said an SUV was being driven erratically at a high speed just before it crashed into an A&W restaurant Sunday morning.

The driver of the vehicle was suspected of being intoxicated and arrested at the scene.

Emerson Bondar faces four charges: dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, refusing to provide a breath sample, driving while prohibited and failure to comply with a probation order. He was schedule to appear in Abbotsford Provincial Court Monday.
