The 3 Alarm Adventure Race, which raises money for the Abbotsford Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund, returns for the third year.

This year’s event takes place Sunday, May 15 starting at 9 a.m. at Exhibition Park. The deadline to register is May 8, or when the maximum number of participants is reached.

The race takes an average of four hours and involves teams of four travelling together through three separate loops.

The forest loop, taking place at Clearbrook Park and Downes Bowl, involves mountain biking and orienteering.

The lake loop is held at Mill Lake and involves paddling, while the field loop – at Matsqui Recreation Centre – consists of swimming or water running, as well an event on ice.

In the competitive division, all team members must complete every portion of the course together.

The recreational division permits two team members to have a chance to rest, while the other two members find control points.

Throughout the race, teams will be met with a variety of mystery challenges.

Participants can compete as male- or women-only teams, or as coed.
