An Abbotsford tea company has voluntarily recalled one of its products, after a warning was issued from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
Nu-Tea Company Ltd. has recalled its Organic Lemon Hibiscus Green Rooibos Herbal Tea, which the CFIA has said might be contaminated with salmonella.
The agency said there have been no reported illnesses associated with consuming the tea.
The product in question is sold in boxes of 24 bags with best-before dates of Feb. 1, March 28 and March 28, 2014. The UPC code is 6 64322 10406 0.
The consumption of food contaminated with salmonella can cause symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
In young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems, the bacteria may cause serious and sometimes deadly infections.
