The City of Abbotsford wants to know if residents want non-medical marijuana sales allowed within the city’s limits.
The city has launched an online survey to solicit feedback from the public.
With marijuana becoming legal on Oct. 17, the city will be left to consider if, and how, it will change its bylaws to respond to the new federal rules.
The central question of the survey is simple: “Should Abbotsford allow the sale of non-medical cannabis in its community?”
Those who respond yes, are asked to weigh in on just how pot sales should be regulated. That includes whether the city should allow government and/or private stores, whether a maximum number of each stores should be set, and whether marijuana outlets should be barred from setting up near schools, day cares, parks and other sites.
Respondents are also asked their thoughts on where cannabis consumption should be outlawed, as well as their thoughts on home-grown pot.
