Some Abbotsford independents and all Mission schools closed on Friday

A handful of private schools have a snow day while public schools remain open on Dec. 20, except in Mission

Abbotsford and Mission residents awoke to about 10 cm of snow Friday morning, which snarled traffic, closed some independent schools in Abbotsford and all schools in Mission.

In Abbotsford, all Mennonite Educational Institute schools, Abbotsford Christian campuses, St. James and St. Ann's school, and Cornerstone Christian school are not open today (Dec. 20).

Abbotsford school district schools are open and buses running as scheduled. Dec. 20 is the last day of school before winter vacation for the Abbotsford school district and some private schools.

The University of the Fraser Valley remains open at all campuses.

In Mission, the school district has cancelled classes.

A snowfall warning was issued by Environment Canada Friday morning stating up to 15 cm of snow is expected in the region, and more at higher elevations. Rain is predicted for Friday afternoon.
