Snowfall warning issued for Coquihalla

Snowfall warning issued for Coquihalla

Up to 15 cm of snow expected between Hope and Merritt

Drivers hoping to take the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt are being warned to be careful as 15 centimetres of snow is forecasted to fall at the summit tonight.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the stretch of Hwy. 5 due to a frontal system that’s expected to move across interior B.C. throughout the day.

Precipitation is expected across the region but any highway passes over 2,000 metres will see that fall as snow during the day and any passes over 1,100 metres will get snow overnight.

Winter tires are required on the Coquihalla.
