A small fire outside of the former Milestones restaurant at South Fraser Way and Sumas Way was quickly extinguished by fire crews on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred just before 5 p.m., and crews from Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service quickly arrived on the scene at the Abbotsford Village shopping complex.

The fire was located on a cement area on the east side of the building and appears to have started in a small pile of rubbish. Nobody was injured nor was anyone located at the scene, although a shopping cart with some items was situated nearby.

The area of the fire is just south of Lonzo Creek Park, where some homeless people are known to camp out.

Milestones restaurant is now located at Highstreet shopping centre on Mt. Lehman Road.
