Environment Canada is calling for a severe thunderstorm watch in the Fraser Valley this evening.
A Pacific cold front approaching the coast will create favourable conditions for thunderstorm development, with the potential to be severe in the eastern sections of Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Howe Sound and Whistler.
Heavy downpours, damaging winds, large hail and intense lightning are a few of the weather phenomena that could potentially occur.
The chance of showers and risk of thunderstorms begins at around 3 p.m, with a high chance for precipitation starting at 6 p.m. and lasting for the remainder of the day.
Effected areas include Fraser Valley west including Abbotsford and Fraser Valley east including Chilliwack.
