A single-vehicle accident on Hwy. 1 east of McDermott Road resulted in two people being taken to hospital, and closed the westbound lanes of the freeway Saturday afternoon in Abbotsford.
Shortly after noon, a sub-compact sedan went out of control on the highway and rolled over.
An air evac helicopter was called but later cancelled, as a ground ambulance took the driver and a passenger to hospital. The driver was reportedly in critical condition. Injuries to the second person are unknown at this time.
Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service, ambulance and police were at the scene, and the westbound lanes are expected to be closed for several hours. Traffic is being rerouted via No. 3 Road.
