Sentenced for massage-service attack

Paul William Holmes, 31, receives 19-month jail term.

An Abbotsford man has been given a 19-month prison sentence, followed by two years' probation, for his attack on a woman selling massage services last February.

Paul William Holmes, 31, was sentenced last Wednesday in B.C. Supreme Court in Chilliwack to one count of unlawful confinement and one count of uttering threats.

Two other charges – sexual assault using a weapon and assault – were stayed.

The offence occurred after Holmes contacted the woman through a posting on Craigslist. She went to his apartment on Feb. 27. He would not permit her to leave and allegedly assaulted her.

The woman then reported the incident to police.

Holmes was also charged with four other offences after a second woman came forward with a similar complaint related to an incident on Feb. 1, but those charges were later stayed.
