A 70-year-old cyclist escaped with minor injuries after he was hit by a semi truck on Tuesday in Abbotsford at about 5:40 p.m.
The man had just begun crossing at a crosswalk, after receiving the signal to go, and was heading west on Maclure Road. The truck driver was heading north on Trethewey and began making a right turn onto Maclure.
Const. Ian MacDonald said the driver did not see the cyclist and struck him, sending him under the vehicle but missing the wheels.
The cyclist was taken by ambulance to hospital, where he was recovering yesterday from bruises, abrasions, and some swelling to his lower back and hip.
