Sedan crash with cement truck closes 264th Street in Langley

Road closed for 3 hours between 24th and 29th Avenues Tuesday morning

A crash involving a car and cement truck has a section of 264th Street closed in Aldergrove Tuesday morning (Nov. 28).

Langley RCMP closed the road to traffic between 24th and 29th Avenues on 264th Street in both directions.

The cement truck was travelling north on 264th Street and the car, a Mazda 3, veered into the northbound lanes, explained Cpl. Craig van Herk with the Langley RCMP.

“The cement truck attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to do so,” he said.

The driver of the Mazda was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and the driver of the cement truck was not injured.

“It appears, at this point, the primary cause of the collision was a fogged up, frosted over windshield on the sedan,” van Herk said.

Clean up crews were on scene for almost three hours.

“This could have been far more tragic,” he concluded.

The road reopened at about 9:30 a.m.

Van Herk shared a reminder for the public to consider road conditions and visibility when driving.

“We can control our driving behaviours and the condition of our vehicles, not the weather. Please slow down, and before leaving take care to ensure your windows are clear with good visibility.”
