APD arrest 36-year-old man who they say took a cellphone and made threats

UPDATE: 2:23 p.m.

A 36-year-old man is alleged to have kicked a car without provocation and then robbed the occupants of their cellphone, according to Abbotsford Police.

Police released details of an incident that led to a police action on a home at Clearbrook Road and Fir Avenue, leading to the arrest of the 36-year-old man for uttering threats and robbery.

Police say the man reportedly kicked the car as it was attempting to park and then threatened to shoot the two people inside before taking their cellphone.

“Police took (the man) into custody without incident,” the Abbotsford Police Department said in a tweet.

A man is in custody after police converged on a property at the corner of Clearbrook Road and Fir Avenue Saturday morning.

The Abbotsford Police Department received a report of a “suspicious circumstance, which turned out to be a robbery and uttering-threats call,” said Staff Sgt. Paul Dhillon.

Police then converged on the property at Clearbrook and Fir, where they believed the suspect to be.

“We contained the residence and made some calls. The subject of the complaint came out of the residence, so he was compliant, and was taken into custody,” Dhillon said. “We’re continuing our investigation.”
