Road closures in effect Thursday to Sunday for Abbotsford Airshow

Follow detours and avoid areas if you can as airshow takes over airport neighbourhoods

The Abbotsford International Airshow doesn’t officially kick off until Friday night, but road closures are already in place as organizers prepare for the event.

They released a list of road closures on their website on Thursday morning that the travelling public needs to be aware of.

Also Thursday, practice flights begin at about noon and will include a US Navy EA-18 Growler, the USAF F-35 team, and the Canadian Forces Snowbird team.

All of the airshow closures, detours and times noted below are approximate and subject to change.

The following road closures and detours will be in effect during the following (approximate) hours.

Thursday, Aug. 10 – 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 11 – 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 12 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 12 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Event Road Closures:

The following road will be closed during event flying operations and are accessible to residents only with proper identification.

TRACEY ST: Between King Road and Walmsley Road

WALMSLEY AVE: Between Tracey Street and Clearbrook Road

TOWNLINE RD: South of King Road

QUEEN ST: South of Marshall Road

HAMM ST: between Huntington Road and Zero Avenue

HUNTINGTON RD: Closed between Mt. Lehman Road and Townline Road. (To detour, follow Huntington Road south to Zero Avenue.)
