There were large flakes of snow falling in Abbotsford and Mission as drivers got ready for their morning commute on Thursday.
Some two to three centimeters of snow fell in the rare April snowfall.
It played havoc with drivers commuting around and between Abbotsford, Mission and Chilliwack, but with warm temperatures, roads were mostly clear by mid morning. Other parts of the region only received snow at higher elevations.
Environment Canada meteorologist David Jones said an April snowfall happens in Abbotsford every four to six years, and on April 2, 2007 there was a wintry 10 cm.
The latest recorded snowfall in Abbotsford was 0.4 cm that fell on May 7, 1996.
Light rain is in the forecast for the rest of Thursday, with showers expected in the evening.
