RCMP officials have confirmed that the pilot of the Air 5 helicopter that crashed at Cultus Lake Tuesday afternoon was killed.
No further information was yet available. The RCMP E Division headquarters in Vancouver is holding a press conference at 5 p.m. in Vancouver and said more information will be released at that time.
A Black Press reporter and other media were being turned away from a former military training site off the Liumchen Creek Forest Service Road.
A road leading into the area has been closed.
The Air 5 helicopter was most often called in for searches and to rescue lost hikers and climbers.
Cultus Lake is located about 30 kilometres east of Abbotsford.
