Pedestrian dies from injuries two weeks after collision

A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on Saturday, Jan. 24 in Abbotsford has died from his injuries.

Richard Rude, 67, died on Friday night (Feb. 6) at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, according to his son.

Rude was hospitalized after going into medical distress following the collision.

Police at the time said that Rude had been walking east on McDougall Avenue and crossing Montrose Avenue at a crosswalk when he was struck by a pickup truck turning left.

Police said although the collision happened at low speed, Rude's condition deteriorated significantly once he was in hospital.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene, and police are continuing to investigate the collision.
