Organizers call Agrifair a huge success

An influx of crowds to the annual fair has organizers looking to expand
Agrifair drew in large crowds last weekend

Beautiful weather made for a busy Agrifair last weekend in Abbotsford, drawing an influx of crowds that has organizers already looking to expand the fair next year.

Ernie Silveri, Agrifair president, said the whole weekend was “absolutely phenomenal.”

“The attendance has been over the top,” he said. “With the influx of people, and people coming back to Agrifair, our first planning meeting is next week to start planning for a bigger fair.”

The Mighty Fraser Pro Rodeo drew an enthusiastic crowd, bringing together barrel-racing, bucking broncos and Mayor Bruce Banman, who took to the arena with professional rodeo clown JJ Harrison.

High-quality musical acts also graced the Agrifair stages. Dallas Smith of Langley performed to a happy crowd of country fans on Saturday, while Grammy-winning Christian rock band Jars of Clay played a mix of their hits on Sunday.

On Monday, the stands filled with spectators to watch the demolition derby, which Silveri said “really packed the people in.”

There was no shortage of entertainment for animal lovers, with 4H competitions, a pig scramble, rabbit agility competitions and more.

“All in all, it was a huge, huge success and a lot of fun for families,” Silveri said.
